A crew from Teichert Construction stockpiles stormwater drainpipe along the east side of Campbell Road last week as construction began on a campus project to provide domestic water, sewer and stormwater drainage to the new West Village neighborhood. The first phase of West Village is a 130-acre mixed-use neighborhood for faculty, staff and students to be located west of Highway 113. The first student housing units are scheduled to be ready for occupancy in fall 2011. Planners estimate the neighborhood could eventually be home to about 4,350 people. The project’s educational component also includes the Davis Center for Sacramento City College the first community college branch to be built on a UC campus.
