The UC Davis Police and Fire departments are planning a full-scale emergency exercise for Sept. 16, and the organizers are looking for volunteers to take part.

The exercise will be a full workout of the campus's ability to respond to a major incident, police Lt. Matt Carmichael said.

To keep the situation as realistic as possible for those taking part, the exact details of the exercise are being kept confidential. The exercise zone will be clearly marked off and the public excluded, but you may notice more police and fire activity on campus than usual.

Organizers are looking for as many as 200 volunteers to take part in the exercise in various roles. All volunteers will receive necessary training and enough background information to take part.
