The UC Davis Library is reaching out to faculty and other researchers, while Student Affairs is undertaking its first-ever campuswide satisfaction survey and is asking faculty and staff to help boost participation.
●︎ UC Davis Library — It has partnered with the national research organization Ithaka S+R to conduct a campuswide survey of all faculty, researchers, post-docs, and graduate and professional students. Responses to the survey help the library create and improve services to best meet the needs of UC Davis’ teaching and research community.
“We want to hear from you,” said MacKenzie Smith, university librarian and vice provost of Digital Scholarship. “The more we know about how you do your research, teaching and scholarly publishing work, the more we can do to support you.”
All members of the Academic Senate and Academic Federation, as well as post-docs, graduate and professional students, should have received personalized emails Monday (April 15) inviting participation. The survey remains open until 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 15.
The library last conducted a survey of this scope in 2014. The new survey will inform a strategic planning process the library will embark on later this year, and will help shape how the library prioritizes its support of research and teaching at UC Davis going forward.
The “2019 Library Survey” webpage includes an FAQ and information about incentives. Questions? Send an email to librarysurvey@ucdavis.edu.
●︎ Student Affairs — The UC Davis Student Satisfaction Survey presents an opportunity to get feedback directly from the students who use Student Affairs services daily and to find out what works well and what needs attention.
The survey opened April 8 and is open until Friday, May 3. The division is showing its appreciation to survey takers by providing free T-shirts and webcam covers (available at the Campus Store’s guest services desk) and are eligible for weekly giveaways of $25 Amazon gift cards.
The survey team encourages faculty and staff mention to survey to students and-or download and post survey fliers.
Scrubs reopening slated by end of May
Repair crews have been given the go-ahead to work toward reopening Scrubs Café after a leak filled the eatery with steam in February, and plan to have the restaurant mostly up and running again by the end of May.
Moisture levels continue to drop and a hygienist brought in by the university has found no ill effects from the water damage, so now Facilities Services will focus on the cosmetic repairs like patching holes, replacing ceiling tiles and painting.
The work will be split into two phases: Phase 1, focusing on the market, coffee service and kitchen locations, is set to be complete by the end of May. A timeline has not yet been set for Phase 2, the dining areas.
