Dining Services invites the campus community and the general public to another edition of Farm to College, a tasty showcase of the university’s commitment to shopping local, and to sustainable production methods and the humane treatment of animals.
The next biannual Farm to College, including games, crafts and entertainment, is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (June 5) on the lawn within the Segundo residential complex.
The menu:
Entrees — Wild Oregon Shrimp Bruschetta, Un-Seafood “Shrimp” Appetizer (vegan), Beef Barbacoa, Seitan Fajitas (vegan), Cage-Free Egg Frittata, Summer Citrus Free-Range Chicken Salad, Summer Citrus Tofu Salad (vegan) and Pure Country Pork Sandwich Plate
Desserts — Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookies (vegan), Fair Trade Chocolate Brownies, Locally Produced Ice Cream and Fresh Strawberries, and Coconut Bliss Ice Cream (vegan)
Beverages — Tazo Iced Tea, Iced Water and Infused Water with Student Farm Produce (all vegan)
Besides the vegan options listed above, Dining Services also will offer vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Farm to College guests can make crafts with the Aggie Reuse Store and Project Compost, play the Seasonal Produce Toss game with the UC Davis Farmers Market, and taste Russell Ranch tomato pesto made from tomatoes grown at the Agricultural Sustainability Institute.
The entertainment lineup includes Bomba Fried Rice, a 10-piece band performing Latin-genre music ranging from salsa to cumbia. Check out the band on YouTube, and come ready to dance!
The Farm to College dinner is priced at $11.80 for UC Davis employees (with staff ID or Staff Assembly pin) or $14.75 for the general public. If you are a meal plan holder, simply swipe your card.
