PAPER SURVEYS

Employees without computer access are invited to complete the survey on paper, in English or Spanish, during any of the following sessions. The starting times are listed; each session will run at least an hour.

• Wednesday, Feb. 20 — 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 21 — 1:30, 5:30 and 10 p.m.
• Friday, Feb. 22 — 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
• Monday, Feb. 25 — 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, Feb. 26 — 5:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, Feb. 27 — 1:30, 5:30 and 10 p.m.
• Thursday, Feb. 28 — 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Location: Facilities Training Room in the Facilities Services Building on Crocker Lane

Great news this morning (Feb. 15) from the Campus Community Survey team: Nearly one in four faculty, staff and students on the Davis and Sacramento campuses responded in the first two weeks. Now the survey leaders are pushing hard to hear from the other 75 percent.

Reminder emails continue to go out and prizes are still being awarded (read about the latest winners, including undergraduate Ben Emerzian, who won an iPad), and two new outreach efforts are coming to the Davis campus:

• Paper surveys in English and Spanish for employees without access to computers — The paper forms will be made available Feb. 20-22 and 25-28, during one-hour blocks of time starting as late as 10 p.m. to accommodate shift workers. See box for schedule and location.

• Survey Nights in the computer labs at the Student Community Center — Music inside, snacks outside and special guests: Aggie athletics coaches. Students are invited to stop by to take the survey from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday or Wednesday (Feb. 19 and 20). After finishing the survey, students can walk out wearing an “I was Heard” sticker. The Tuesday Survey Night is in 2102 and 2103 Student Community Center; the Wednesday Survey Night is in 2102.

Coaches who are tentatively set to visit are Addie Hauschild, women’s volleyball; John Lavalee, women’s gymnastics coach; Austin Pile, field hockey; Drew Wartenburg, cross country and track and field; and Jamey Wright, women’s water polo.

He addresses the campus climate and urges everyone to take the survey: “A lot of people think sometimes that raising their voice or making their voice heard about certain events and challenges that we face on campus are really just like yelling into the wind or calling into the wind, and that no one will really hear them or really pay attention.

“But I want to assure that your voice will be heard if you take the time to complete the survey.”

It is believed to be one of the largest surveys of its kind in the nation, going to some 430,000 people: students, staff and faculty on every UC campus and medical center, and at the Office of the President, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. UC Davis Campus Community Survey

The UC survey website includes an overview and the project’s goals, a section addressing “What is Climate Change?” (with subsections on how campus climate affects students, and how it affects faculty and staff), a brief description of the survey (with sample questions on experiences, perceptions and institutional actions). The site also includes an FAQ and a feedback form (online).
