Putting sustainability in all kinds of curricula
“Sustainability Across the Curriculum” is the topic for a program next week in the Design Lecture Series.
Organizers said Geoffrey Chase will discuss the Ponderosa Project, which he led as a faculty member during the 1990s at Northern Arizona University, and other efforts with which he has been involved — all aimed at helping faculty integrate issues of environmental integrity, economic vitality, and social equity into their curricula, all across campus.
Chase’s talk is scheduled for noon Oct. 21 in the Technocultural Studies Building (Art Annex).
Chase now serves as dean of Undergraduate Studies at San Diego State University. He is co-editor, with Peggy Bartlett, of Sustainability on Campus: Stories and Strategies for Change.
Collaboration between scientists and the public

Leshner’s talk, in the Dean’s Lecture Series, is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 22 in the auditorium at the MIND Institute, 2825 50th St., Sacramento. Reservations can be arranged by calling (916) 734-7131.
Leshner is an expert in physiological psychology who has published more than 150 papers on the biology of behavior, science and technology policy, science education and public engagement with science.
