The Outdoors: At Stebbins Cold Canyon

Children's Summer Activities Faire

Summer arrives early — for one day only — this Saturday, March 12, when Campus Recreation and the city of Davis Community Services Department host the fifth annual Children’s Summer Activities Faire.

The fair, free and open to the public, will include crafts and other activities to do on Saturday, and a preview of summer programs put on by the university, the city and others.

Summer is a good time for children to try new activities such as sculpture and rock climbing — "and Davis is the perfect community to do so,” said Holly Bates, coordinator of Youth Programs for Campus Recreation. “The Children’s Activities Faire makes it easy for parents trying to find the best summer programs for their kids.”

The fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmers Market, held at Central Park, Second and C streets.

Besides Campus Recreation and the city of Davis Community Services Department, here are the other organizations that are scheduled to participate in the fair: Acme Theatre Company; Camp Unalayee, a nonprofit wilderness-backpacking camp for ages 10 to 16; Davis Child Development Centers; Davis Kids Klub; Davis Waldorf School; Grace Valley Christian Academy; and Peregrine School.
