A Provost’s Forum this week will consider the university’s role in addressing climate change, while a Chancellor’s Colloquium next week will present dance company director Stephen Petronio for a talk about his unique language of movement.

Both programs and free and open to the public.

• “The University and the Public Good: What Should We Be Doing on Climate Change?” — Harvard University’s Naomi Oreskes, professor of the history of science, and affiliated professor of earth and planetary sciences, in the Provost’s Forums on the Public University and the Social Good. The program is scheduled Friday (Feb. 21) in the multipurpose room at the Student Community Center: 3-4:30 p.m. lecture, 4:30-5:30 p.m. lecture.

• “Confessions of a Motion Addict” — Petronio, artistic director of the Stephen Petronio Company, a New York City-based dance studio, has collaborated with musicians and artists from across the globe to create performances that explore new forms of dance, music, art and fashion. His talk in the Chancellor’s Colloquium Distinguished Speaker Series is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts.
