It’s “miniature” in size but gigantic in purpose: a miniature golf fundraiser (with prizes) at the Kiwanis Family House on the grounds of the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
The all-ages event, called Course of Dreams, is scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.
Kiwanis, an international service organization, maintains the house for families with loved ones in the hospital — either the medical center or the Shriners Hospital next door.
Dan Germain, director of the Kiwanis house, said Kiwanis clubs from around the region are building nine “creative” holes for a weekend of golfing fun. Play each hole twice for a regular, 18-hole round — then visit the 19th hole where hamburgers, hot dogs and root beer floats will be for sale.
Golf fees (for 18 holes) are $5 for adults and $3 for ages 12 and under. Prizes will include a mountain bike, basketball hoop and a family fun pack for Scandia Fun Center.
The Course of Dreams will be laid out mostly on the grass on the north side of the house, 2875 50th St., just north of Broadway.
