Microsoft’s chief environmental strategist, Rob Bernard, is due at UC Davis next week to deliver a public address and participate in a two-day forum:
• “The Role of Technology in Addressing Environmental and Energy Issues” — This talk is scheduled for Monday (Nov. 7) in the Activities and Recreation Center Ballroom, with admission free and open to the public. A reception starts the program at 5:30 p.m., and Bernard's talk is set for 6:30. Sponsored by the Energy Efficiency Center and the Office of Graduate Studies.
The venue is the ballroom in the Activities and Recreation Center. Because seating is limited, the organizers are asking for RSVPs via an online registration system, by today (Nov. 4).
• Energy Efficiency Forum: Retrofitting Corporate Campuses — The program lists Bernard as the keynote speaker at the forum's opening session. The invitation-only forum is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov. 8 and 9) at the Conference Center.
The organizers said the forum will explore how corporate campuses can cut their energy use, while improving facilities, and how UC Davis can assist in this transformation.
Other forum speakers include representativs from such companies as Genentech, Adobe and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
First in a series of forums planned by the Energy Efficiency Center, the California Lighting Technology Center, the Western Cooling Efficiency Center and the Center for Water-Energy Efficiency.
