Nesrin Sarigul-Klijn, a UC Davis professor of mechanical and aeronautical engineering, can comment on the launch of "Spaceship One," the privately funded rocket that will attempt a record flight on June 21. Sarigul-Klijn has worked on similar designs for spacecraft launched from aircraft. She teaches undergraduate classes in rocket design and coordinates the UC Davis SpaceEd graduate program in space engineering.
