Oct. 2, Tuesday, 4:10-5 p.m. -- Future water-scarcity challenges in Egypt and around the world will be discussed during a free, public talk by Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, president of the World Water Council and Egyptian minister of water resources and irrigation. He will focus on Egypt's current reform policy and national water resources plan. Abu-Zeid earned his master's degree and doctoral degree in engineering from UC Davis. He has conducted research on water resources, irrigation, drainage, groundwater and the environment, and contributed to the development of practical solutions for water use in the Nile River basin and the greater Middle East. His talk will be presented in room 3001 of the Plant and Environmental Sciences Building, just north of UC Davis' Memorial Union.
