University Outreach and International Programs announced a brown bag workshop: Research Funding Opportunities with Europe.

The free program is scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11 in the Institute of Governmental Affairs Reading Room, 360 Shields Library. The organizers are asking for RSVPs by Jan. 8; to RSVP, send an e-mail to uoipfacultyresources@ucdavis.edu.

Organizers said the workshop will provide an introduction to the major research funding programs available from the European Union, as well as an overview of opportunities with Germany and France.

Featured speakers:

• Laurent Bochereau, counselor, head of Science, Technology and Education, European Commission Delegation to the USA — Providing an introduction to the European Union’s research funding opportunities available to UC Davis faculty, researchers, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students.

• Leslie Harlson, West Coast information officer, Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (German Academic Exchange Service) Information Center, San Francisco — Outlining DADD's various programs available to faculty, researchers, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students.

• Michelle Bertho, program coordinator, France Berkeley Fund, UC Berkeley — Providing  information on seed money available for innovative, binational research projects.
