Largest Gift in UC Davis History to be Announced; Will Benefit Agriculture and the Arts

What: The largest gift in UC Davis' history -- benefiting programs of singular distinction within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and naming the currently-under-construction Center for the Performing Arts -- will be announced. Who: The benefactors, whose gift is also among the largest ever received within the 10-campus University of California system, will be introduced and gift details provided. Gov. Gray Davis has indicated he will attend. When: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 Where: Courtyard of the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center at the southeast corner of Old Davis Road and Mrak Hall Drive. Immediately following, tours will be provided of agricultural programs that will benefit from this gift and of the nearby Center for the Performing Arts, which is a year away from completion. Those touring the Center for the Performing Arts must wear flat-soled, closed-toe shoes (no sandals), pants and hard hats, and must sign liability waivers. Turn north from off-ramp onto Old Davis Road. Drive past South Gate kiosk and follow Old Davis Road to the stop sign. At the stop sign, turn right, continuing on Old Davis Road to the stop light at Mrak Hall Drive. The Alumni and Visitors Center will be on your right, on the southeast corner. Parking will be reserved for satellite or microwave trucks adjacent to and directly west of the Alumni and Visitors Center. Media parking is also reserved in the lot alongside Mrak Hall. If your vehicle is not marked, place a media business card on the driver's side dashboard.
