Fans could be in for a scary surprise at the UC Davis football game Saturday (Oct. 24), which will feature Halloween decor and student-actors “haunting” the concourse.
The students in the role of scare actors will be from the Department of Theatre and Dance, said Cameron Anderson, assistant athletic director for marketing. For a “gentler, less-scary” experience, fans can also meet students from the Princess Pals, a club where members dress up as storybook characters and visit children’s hospitals, libraries and more.
AT A GLANCE
- WHAT: UC Davis vs. Northern Colorado football game
- WHEN: Kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 24)
- WHERE: UC Davis Health Stadium
- TICKETS: Available online
“Princess Pals, along with any scare actors, will have a table so fans can learn more about their clubs, but we are encouraging them to roam around the full concourse and interact with fans and give them candy,” Anderson said.
Fans are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes (no masks or weapons will be allowed), and children are encouraged to trick-or-treat at the tables of sponsors and other organizations around the concourse. The stadium will be decked out in Halloween-themed decor, and a photo booth will be available.
The football players won’t be in costume, but they will be wearing their Lake Tahoe-themed jerseys, which honor the Tahoe Environmental Research Center.
The Aggies are returning home after a loss to Southern Utah, and are 2-2 in conference play. Meanwhile, the visiting Bears of Northern Colorado, come to UC Davis Health Stadium for this weekend’s game with a 2-3 record in the Big Sky Conference.
In a news conference earlier this week, head coach Tim Plough said he expected the game against Northern Colorado to come down to the wire.
“They’re extremely well-coached,” Plough said. “They had a close game with us a year ago, so I would expect them to play their absolute best and be well-coached and ready to go.”
