PROGRAM, REGISTRATION, POSTERS

- Global Affairs also is accepting abstracts for graduate student poster presentations— the deadline is June 30.
The 2018 International Research Conference at UC Davis will bring together researchers and leaders from academia, industry and private and public funding agencies from around the world to discuss:
- The changing political environment and its impact on international research
- The increasing importance of networks and consortia in advancing international research
- The role of interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research in solving global challenges
- Educating the next generation of international researchers
“Given the rapidly changing environments within which international research is being conducted, the need to examine new trends, different strategies and develop new coping mechanisms is urgent,” said Joanna Regulska, vice provost and associate chancellor of Global Affairs. “This conference will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn from each other, meet their counterparts from around the world, and discuss new strategies and approaches that are collaborative, transnational and interdisciplinary.
Speakers representing Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Africa, Latin America and North America will speak on topics ranging from emerging funding trends and evaluating the impact of international research to knowledge sharing between university and industry partners and strategies universities are developing to educate the next generation of researchers.
The conference also includes a luncheon with Northern California-based consul generals, and a reception at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. Preconference tours will take in the Napa Valley and the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center.
“We’re thrilled to bring together experts from across disciplines and from every corner of the world to strategize in tackling some of today’s biggest challenges,” Regulska said. “And UC Davis is an ideal place to do so.”
