As UC Davis moves toward identifying an interim vice chancellor of Student Affairs, Associate Vice Chancellor Emily Galindo will oversee the unit’s operations during the month of July.

In the coming weeks, Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi expects to announce an interim appointee who will begin serving Aug. 1 and throughout the recruitment for a permanent successor to Vice Chancellor Fred Wood. The nationwide search to replace Wood will begin in the fall, with a permanent appointment expected by the spring of 2013. 

Galindo’s current responsibilities at Student Affairs include administration, recreation and facilities, housing, residential and retail dining, and the UC Davis Stores. Wood, whose last day is today (June 28), is leaving to become the chancellor of the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
