Campus officials have scheduled five forums next week — on the Davis and Sacramento campuses — to gather input on a proposal for a police oversight board.
Such a board has been under study since last spring — and officials now have a model to put forth. The board, made up of faculty, staff and student representatives, would review citizen complaints of police misconduct, according to Rahim Reed, associate executive vice chancellor, who leads the Office of Campus Community Relations.
Three meetings will be held on the Davis campus, all in the multipurpose room, Student Community Center:
- Wednesday, Oct. 16 — 9-10:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 16 — 1-2:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 17 — 6-7:30 p.m.
And two will be held on the Sacramento campus:
- Friday, Oct. 18 — 8:30-10 a.m., 1222 Education Building, 4610 X St. (between 45th and 48th streets (across from the UC Davis Medical Center)
- Friday, Oct. 18 — 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., auditorium, MIND Institute, 2825 50th St.
