As it turns out, campus event planners know something about appetizers.
The winner of Staff Assembly's pre-Super Bowl Dip-Off competition was Lina Layiktez, director of Conference and Event Services, with her jalapeno popper dip.
Fifteen entrants submitted dips, and more than 60 tasters judged their flavor and presentation. For a full list of winners (and recipes for many of them), visit the Staff Assembly website.

Basketball buzzer-beater
The men's basketball team was down by as much as 10 during their game against Long Beach State Saturday (Feb. 3), but in the end it all came down to the second overtime.
Long Beach was leading by 2 with 6.9 seconds left, until TJ Shorts II hit a three-point shot with 1.9 seconds left, according to the Associated Press.
