A UC Davis symposium on Wednesday, Oct. 11, will present the newest scientific findings about the ways that dairy farms affect air quality.

Called "Dairy Emissions: Recent, Ongoing and Future Research in California: A Technical Discussion," the meeting is hosted by the UC Davis Agricultural Air Emissions Center and led by center director Frank Mitloehner. Featured speakers are from UC Davis; the USDA Agricultural Research Service; California State University, Fresno; and elsewhere.

"In recent years, substantial efforts have been undertaken to understand the nature of air emissions from dairies and what can be done to reduce them," Mitloehner said. "At this meeting, we will look at the latest findings and identify some future priorities for the research."

The symposium will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center on the UC Davis campus. There are no registration fees (although visitor parking is $6 per day). Lunch will be provided to attendees who register by Oct. 6.
