“Remix: Redefining the Mixed Experience” is the theme for the seventh annual Mixed Heritage Week, May 2 to 6.

Here are some highlights of the week:

• Mixed Photo Exhibit — Inspired by Kip Fulbeck's The Hapa Project.
Opening reception, with refreshments provided, 6 p.m. Monday, May 2, King Lounge, Memorial Union.

• Bone Marrow Drive — Stop by and learn why registration is particularly important for those of mixed heritage. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, Quad, during the Spring Health Fair.

• Crossing the Line: Multiracial Comedians — A documentary, analyzing how mixed race comedians mediate multiracial identities and humor. Noon Tuesday, May 3, King Lounge, with lunch provided.

• Get In Where You Fit In — Workshop on mixed race people’s relationships to power and powerlessness in the realms of hip-hop and education in America. Presented by Colin Ehara, a performance artist from the Bay Area who recently completed his thesis on critical mixed race studies in hip-hop and education. 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, King Lounge, with dinner provided.

• Sick Spits Performance Night — Colin Ehara performs some of his songs, including "Paper Bullets," about his mixed heritage. Plus, performances by Sick Spits and other students. 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, Griffin Lounge, MU.

• Mixed Womyn in the Media — A presentation and discussion on the many representations of mixed womyn in advertisements, film, television and popular culture. 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, King Lounge, with lunch provided.

• Mixed Experiences Panel — Four community members share their stories and answer questions about their “mixed” experiences. Also, everyone who attends is welcome to what being mixed means to them. 6 p.m. Thursday, May 5, King Lounge, with dinner provided.

• Singing with the STARS (Students Who Are Talented and Ready for Stardom) — Lip-sync contest, open to everyone. $5 for individuals, $10 for groups of two or more — with each act competing to win $200!
