- AggieSurplus, Special Services now operate as 1 unit
- Scientific Store takes over AggieSurplus’ old space
AggieSurplus closed out 2021 by merging with Special Services, then started 2022 with a new location, new hours and new ways to buy and pay.
The two Supply Chain Management units are now operating as AggieSurplus and Services. With the November merger came an easier-to-complete request process as well as overall improved customer service.
SCIENTIFIC STORE
The former AggieSurplus store at 650 La Rue Road is now occupied by the Aggie Supply Scientific Store, which relocated from Haring Hall. The store, another unit of Supply Chain Management, sells to departments only.
The new space is larger, more centrally-located for many departments and includes short-term parking. A grand reopening event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 27.
The surplus store moved out to the Hopkins Services Complex at 615 Hopkins Road, west of Highway 113, joining the services unit there.
AggieSurplus, offering furniture, equipment and supplies to departments and the public, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first Thursday and Friday of every month. Short-term parking is available at the Hopkins Services Complex. Customers must follow the campus’s COVID-19 policies, including, at this time, completing the Daily Symptom Survey to enter the store and wearing face masks inside. In addition, customers must sign in.
Even when shopping in the store, buyers must use the online platform to complete their transactions — and credit cards are now the only acceptable form of payment. Departments may use Procurement Cards when buying items for official university business, purchases for personal use can be made only with personal credit cards.
Note: During the eight hours a month AggieSurplus is physically open, in-store shoppers have priority purchasing rights over orders that come in from outside the store for the same item or items.
The online shopping platform divides inventory into several categories, including electronics, household, industrial, lab items, office supplies and vehicles. After making purchases, buyers must contact AggieSurplus by email to arrange pickup times.
The services unit offers labor for office and lab moves, furniture installation and reconfiguration, and projects such as installing whiteboards and keyboard trays, and boxing up files. The unit also provides office chair and event equipment rentals, and freight delivery and outgoing freight preparation.
