THE ARTS (AND SCIENCE): Photos show the fusion

Scientist and photography instructor Terry Nathan provided a sampling of student work from the Art-Science Fusion Program exhibition, continuing through July 2 at the Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center. The photos are accompanied by snippets from the artist statements. The exhibition also includes a ceramic mosaic: The Face of Darwin.

Pictured on the Dateline index page: “By isolating the Fittonia verschaffeltii from the surroundings, the minute details and interplays between the shapes and tones become more apparent,” said Sean S. Crawford (microbiology).

Pictured on this page: Two premed students, both majoring in neurobiology, physiology and behavior, offer two takes on medicine. Allyson Jang: “I designed the forceps and the lighting to highlight the simple yet appealing aspects of the instrument and ultimately represent the artistic quality of medicine that is overlooked.” Sumeet Singh: “In this photograph, my intention was to capture the doctor-patient interaction in a very intimate fashion.”
