Tickets are being sold only through Thursday (March 31) for the Davis campus's 21st annual celebration of diversity, Soaring to New Heights, sponsored by the Office of Campus Community Relations and the Staff Diversity Advisory Committee.

The Soaring to New Heights awards “menu” comprises the Diversity and Principles of Community Achievement Recognition Awards, the Calvin E. Handy Leadership Award and Disability Awareness Awards.
The lunch menu includes Polynesian fruit salad with toasted coconut and Asian slaw with ginger sesame dressing, naan and jalapeno cheese biscuits, steamed white rice, curried lentils (vegetarian), chicken mole, plus desserts and beverages.
Besides lending his name to an award, Police Chief Emeritus Handy has another role in this year’s Soaring to New Heights: He and his Jazz Patrol band will be performing. The entertainment program also includes three multicultural student groups.
Tickets are $5 each; only 550 will be sold, and none will be available at the door. They are available on a first-come, first-serve basis through the Freeborn Hall ticket office, in person or by telephone, (530) 752-1915. Note: A $5 charge will be added to each phone order of one or more tickets.
Departmental recharges are allowable; DaFIS (Davis Financial Information System) account managers may send ticket orders via e-mail to occr@ucdavis.edu.
In a memo announcing the start of ticket sales, Rahim Reed, associate executive vice chancellor, said department-unit representation is highly recommended. Release time with supervisory approval is appropriate.
