Dairy Technology Day set for June 10 at UC Davis

Members of the California dairy industry will gather June 10 at UC Davis for the 2010 Dairy Technology Day.

The event, which will feature talks by university and industry experts, will be held in the ballroom of the new UC Davis Conference Center. It will be hosted by the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science.

The meeting will open with welcoming remarks by UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi and Neal Van Alfen, dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Joe O’Donnell, executive director of the California Dairy Research Foundation, will then deliver a state-of-the industry message, talking about “New Marketing Advantages Available to Milk and Dairy Products for Health-conscious Consumers.”

The morning talks will focus on enhancing health with pre- and pro-biotics, and the afternoon session will highlight processing technologies. Participants then will be taken on a tour of the new LEED Platinum August A. Busch III Brewing and Food Science Laboratory, Milk Processing Laboratory, and Teaching and Research Winery, now under construction at the Robert Mondavi Institute. The day will conclude with a networking reception.
